I Heart London

Ok, so i've definitely broken my post a photo every day thing.
I think i've even missed one post a week, but then I've never been very good at keeping up with things. I start fast and furiously and then kind of lose interest.
I'm trying not to do that here, which is saying something, as the only other places I try not to do that are family, friends and relationships. I've managed to succeed with both of those, but then how can you lose interest in some of the most interesting people around?

I'm on holiday at the moment (yay!) and although most of it has been spent in bed, I have managed to make it out into the big wide world occasionally. We went down to Southbank, one of my favourite parts of London, it always reminds me why I love it here. And even more so this time, as for once, it was strangely quiet. That may have had something to do with it being Christmas Eve of course.

We stalked some birds, investigated underground and ate the most delicious mushroom and asparagus pie from Pieminister, which was the perfect thing to combat the freezing winds. Next time, we're stopping for their pie and mash.

Anyway, enough about food and onto the photo's

Yes, it really was that cold

A Few Steps Further

I told my friend Max that I would post this ages ago, and I'm only finally getting round to it.
After reading this and seeing my feet pictures, he decided to take one of his own, and here it is

Sorry it took me so long to post it Mr Coppoletta, I'm a slacker, what can I say?
My feet on the other hand, have been getting around a little. Mostly, they've been at work, although only until tomorrow at around 12.30, at which time I will be free for almost 2 weeks of lovely Christmas holiday.
Because of all the snow and ice, I, like many other people, have to wear big boots for the commute to work. Once there, I of course need to change into more acceptable shoes, and being too cold to remove my socks, this is generally what I end up looking like

Real Professional
When not wearing silly socks at work, I've also been down to Southampton, taking pictures at a mini Stoner Rock Fest that happened at Talking Heads on Saturday. Photos of that will be coming soon. As well as some paper cranes that I have been making and taking pictures of for a friends upcoming exhibition.

For now though, just Southampton snow feet

I promise to try make the next blog slightly more exciting than just feet.

The Freaks Exhibition

Last night I went to the opening night of a great new exhibition in the Shoreditch Town Hall Basement Gallery. The art displayed varied from sculpture to drawings and everything in between. Some were amazing, others weren't really to my taste, but all were thought provoking and definitely worth checking out.
It's on until the 16th December, I'd highly recommend making the trip to see it.

Here's a link with details if you need

The Freaks Exhibition

And some photos from it, just in case you still weren't sure about whether to go or not. Go, now.

Drawing by Lisa Overy, It's worth hunting down her others in there too

Some Old, Some New

I missed my first post yesterday, but it was not due to my slacking I promise. It was the fact that most of my head felt like it was going to explode. It seems to have calmed down a little now, well at least enough for me to look at a computer screen, so thought I would write a quick note before I leave work.

Walking by Chelsea Harbour yesterday on the way to Clapham Junction, I took these

Will post more a bit later

Shameless Self Promotion

Just a quick one tonight, as I'm more than halfway through V For Vendetta, and that plus getting under the duvet is more appealing than pretty much anything else right now. Well, almost anything else, a few things could be added or taken away...

Anyway, back to topic, two things to share. Firstly, a photo of Kevin and I that I took was recently featured in Vixxen magazine as the main full page picture for 'To Write Love On Her Arms', an annual initiative that aims to draw attention to self harm and young suicide. If you haven't seen or heard of Vixxen before, you should check it out, a great alternative online magazine run by some awesome ladies back in S.A. Here's the link to the latest issue (and our pic is on pg 77)

Vixxen Magazine

A couple of months ago I also had a photo in there of Paul-Ronney Angel from Urban Voodoo Machine, a fantastic crazy London based band. They're touring Europe at the moment, and can only get bigger. Find them on Facebook, Myspace or visiting your mother.

The second thing is a friend and brilliant photographer, Jemma has just finished her book for Uni. Having shot with her before, I jumped at the chance to help her out with this project, and the results are awesome, She's so talented. The book is now for sale here:

Curve - A Study

And just one picture for the road, one of my favourite from a recent wander round the streets impromptu shoot, unedited though.

I think that's all for now, V awaits. Goodnight

Cop Out

I didn't actually take any pictures today. But, I thought I'd post some I took recently of a lovely lady, Bee Ororo and the rest of her band. They played the upstairs bar at Ronnie Scotts, and it was great fun taking photo's of them, especially the more casual candid shots outside. Hopefully I'll be working with them more in the new year.

If you get a chance, check out the Bee Ororo Quartet. They play at the Blue Posts in London every Sunday, and at Ronnie Scotts regularly, and if you can't wait until then, here's a little link: The Bee Ororo Quartet

I've eaten way too much today, pretty sure my stomach is about to explode, so i'm going to go try and sleep it off, although with the amount of cheese I've ingested, the nightmares are sure to be second to none.

Santa Baby

I'm doing quite well with this posting thing, although have yet to reach my first target of a week without getting slack and missing days. I've actually managed to take at least one photo everyday so far as well, which, yes, I know, is only 3 days, but still.
Today was a festive one. Being slightly Bah Humbug about the whole Christmas thing, it's difficult to muster the excitement needed for festive frolicking, but I strapped on my Santa Hat and got merry with the rest of them. Cue Christmas Carol radio, complete with American JC Penney adverts (it was all I could find on the internet) and a fake roaring fire. These 3 did help get the spirits up despite horrible weather and broken down trains

With all the end of term happiness though, it did make me quite grumpy to remember that I do in fact, have to go back to work n Monday and carry on as normal, even though the students aren't there. Rubbish. Only a couple more weeks though, and then I am free for 12 days. Bliss!
To finish off, a few more pictures from yesterday.

Snow Day!

Things decided to stop working all that well in London because of the snow. I'm pretty sure all Dulwichites would be in trouble if anything serious really hit, as there aren't many ways to get out of the town as it is, and even less so when the bad weather hits. This did, however, equal one good thing for me, a snow day.

I will refrain from writing about the flying egg incident of the day, as that is still a (literally, in the case of my head) sore subject. Instead, here are a few pictures

Early morning snow from the Bedroom window

Yes, we're meant to be upside down, kind of

Home James
I'll post more tomorrow when I'm done with them. I also found out tonight, that some pictures of me have made it into my friends photography book, which is pretty darn cool. Not sure if I can post about it yet or not, but when I find out, I'll post more info.
Right now though, my bed and the amazing duvet warmth beckons.
Goodnight x

Getting into the Spirit of Things

As a first blog post, a test, and a general 'trying to get into the christmas spirit of things' this is what I used 10 precious minutes of my work day for

Chelsea Harbour

Christmas Feet

I'm hoping to post at least one photo on here a day. Some will be rubbish, like today, some may be a little better. I'm aiming for 365. Given my track record, I'll probably make it to 12, but you never know.
And yes, alot of them will feature my feet. Even though I'm just a step away from the image i'm capturing, sometimes I like to get a little closer
